Passion For Soccer Camps
This past Sunday I had my first Passion for Soccer camp. We had 5 kids there that had physical or cognitive disabilities and it was a pleasure to be able to spend time with them playing a sport we all love. It was truly amazing to meet the parents of the athletes and to see how appreciative they were of the opportunity we gave their children. One of the athletes that I was working with was telling his dad a couple weeks prior to our camp that he wanted to go play soccer. However, he had no opportunities, so his dad emailed my mentor for PFS, who also runs similar camps in the fall. When the father and son found out that we had camps they were so excited and were so grateful that we hosted this event. This experience made my week as I got to see kids laughing and smiling while playing the sport we both love, knowing that we gave them an opportunity they don’t always get. We had an incredible turnout with 30 dedicated and caring high school volunteers. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
